Explanation
Focus Wall Posters: I have supplied you with printable mini posters for the following: Compare & Contrast, Simple Sentences, Complete Sentences, Accuracy: Words Connected in Text, Using a Glossary, Short Vowels O/U/E, Spelling/ high frequency cards, and vocab word cards.
Roll a Spelling Word- For this activity I put my students in pairs. They will need one dice. I usually have them share the dice. They roll the dice to know what spelling word to write.
Color Me By High Frequency Word- This a coloring activity where students practice the High Frequency Words of the week. These are GREAT for bell work
Vocab Flip-Flap- Print these pages back to back. Students fold these pages “hotdog” ways. They fill out the foldable accordingly. If they are struggling with the definition portion, they can look it up in the glossary at the back of their book.
My Family Tree Craft & Writing- This is an adorable writing and craft activity that pairs nicely with the story.
Using a Glossary Book Detective Booklet- This is a booklet that helps students use the glossary to help their understanding of words.
Compare & Contrast Families- This is a Venn Diagram to practice comparing the family in the story with their own family.
Spelling & High Frequency Practice- Students will read, trace, write, and rainbow write the spelling words and High Frequency words of the week.
My Family Tri-Fold- Print these pages front to back. The paper will fold like a brochure. Students will use the story to fill out the Tri-Fold.
Complete sentences Foldable Booklet- This is a foldable booklet to practice making complete sentences.
