Author’s Purpose Interactive Journal Page- Under each flap students explain what the word means according to author’s purpose.
Author’s Purpose Interactive Pockets- Gather a bunch of books and have students decide which category of Author’s Purpose the book goes under. They then write the title on that slip of paper, and why. Last they slide it into the correct pocket.
Author’s Purpose Police Dog- Students make this cute police dog. They write about on it why they think the author wrote the week’s selection.
Spelling Practice- You will need a dice for this activity. Students will roll to find out what spelling word to write. They keep going until all squares are filled. They also pick some of the words, and put them into sentences.
