ABC Order Spelling- Students put the spelling words in alphabetical order. When they are done the pick 7 of the words, and put it in sentences on the back
Text & Graphic Features Booklet- Students practice recognizing text and graphic features in this activity. The draw out what they found, and what page/selection it came from. They then write down what they think the purpose of it was.
Synonym Paints Craft- This is a fun craft to practice synonyms. Students will write synonyms to the word in the middle of a paint splotch.
Verb Tenses Interactive Pockets Page- Students make pockets to insert sentences of the verb being used in past, present, and future.
Sequencing Interactive Journal Page- Students write out the process that illustrators go through to make their pictures. They write it out under the flaps.
Analyze and Evaluate Booklet- Students figure out what the purpose was with what the author did on a certain section. They then analyze if it really helped them understand more fully what they author was trying to say.
Spelling Practice- You will need a dice for this activity. Students will roll to find out what spelling word to write. They keep going until all squares are filled. They also pick some of the words, and put them into sentences.
Comprehension Tri-Fold- Print front to back and fold like a brochure. Students fill this out about the story.
Write & Illustrate A Fairytale- Now having learned all about what illustrators do, it is now time for your students to have a chance! First have them rewrite a fairytale that they are familiar with, then have them illustrate it!
