How Groundhog's Garden Grew

Whew! I feel like these last few weeks have been a whirlwind! I am in the process of applying to elementary schools in the Seattle area. Yup, this girl is moving back to beautiful Seattle area! It is so stressful, and I am so sad to leave my amazing school and 2nd grade classroom. Who knows what grade I will be teaching next year :/. Ahh! Oh well for now I am still busy creating, while also studying for Washington tests, applying to jobs, getting ready for the big IRI state test, and teaching!!! Oh and my sister-in-law is getting married this weekend, also my husband just graduated with his degree last week. AGAIN Whirlwind!
Okay enough complaining onto what you want to hear about. Last our second grade was on the story "How Groundhog's Garden Grew". (If you have the 2014 version of Journeys you would have been doing "From Seed to Plant" by Gail Gibbons) I was especially excited for my sequence of event activity, and they really did turn out adorable!!! They are now going all the way down our second grade hallway. Which brings a little ray of spring with the occasional snow flurries we have been receiving :/. Don't worry it is getting warmer!!
When I did this activity I had them do a rough draft before writing it on the carrots. The top picture is actually of one my colleague's students. She had them add the bugs since that was one of the kids favorite things about the story. HOW CLEVER!
You can see my bulletin on the second picture. I let them draw their own back grounds. Some chose to add rain and clouds to represent that gardens need water as well as sun.
