Keepin' it Simple Frogs

Now being over 6 months pregnant and trying to teach first grade, I find I am not able to do everything I once was able to do as a teacher. Sometimes I must embrace easier things that are less complicated. The kids still love them, so it's ok right?

We have been learning about Frogs these past few weeks (before that it was Penguins if I get a chance I will post about that later). I did a big life cycle chart stuffed full of facts and real pictures that I had printed off. I also whipped up a quick Frog pictorial. They love watching these pictorials come alive. I pencil them in, and as I talk to the group I use Mr. Sketch markers to bring it alive!
Check out the finish frog pictorial below:

I did let them make there own pictorials of frogs with just plain white paper when we were done. I wish I would have snapped a picture of a few. We have some really talented artists in this first grade class. We also watched Bill Nye's Amphibians video. We have Safari Montage at our school, but if you don't have that you can also get it on YouTube just click here
I like my students to reflect after they watch a video like this. I really didn't feel like whipping up my own writing page so I grabbed one from the website kidzone. They have great simple worksheets for things like this. Just click here to get the worksheet the picture below.
The site also had a great frog labeling sheet for the frog parts. Just click here to get the worksheet the picture below.
