Jellies Life of a Jellyfish Supplement Activities Journeys Unit 2 Lesson 10 Focus Wall Posters for all main focuses of the week Roll a Spelling Word Sheets Color Me By High Frequency Word Sheets Vocab Flip-Flap Coral Reef Suffixes Jellyfish Contraction Craft Ocean Project Sheet for Parents Ocean Creature Project Brochure Verb Flip-Flap Spelling Word Jellies Dive a Little Deeper Jelly Fact Five Fab Facts About Jellyfish Jellyfish Fact + Opinion Craft Explanation of Pack Roll a Spelling Word- You will need a dice for this activity. Students will roll to find out what spelling word to write. They keep going until all squares are filled. Color Me By High Frequency Word- This is a coloring activity to practice the high frequency words of the week. Vocab Flip-Flap- Print these pages back to back. Students fold these pages “hot dog” ways. They fill out the flip flap accordingly. If they are struggling with the definition portion, they can look it up in the glossary at the back of their book. Coral Reef Suffixes- This is a cut and paste activity to practice suffixes. Jellyfish Contraction Craft- This is a jellyfish that students put contractions on. For my strugglers I give them the sheet with the contractions already on them. While those who need a challenge I just give them the blank one. Ocean Project Sheet for Parents- This is a set of sheets that can be used for students to do a project at home. I have two different options one is for a poster project the other is for a brochure project. Ocean Creature Project Brochure- This is a brochure I send Home with the kids for their project. Verb Flip-Flap- Print back to back. Fill out accordingly. Spelling Word Jellies- This is helping practice spelling words, but also help review alphabetical order. Dive a Little Deeper Jellyfish Facts- Five Fab Facts About Jellyfish- Students love finding facts. This is a fun and simple ways for them to write down facts from the story Jellies. Jellyfish Fact + Opinion Craft- This is a fun craft that you can do to practice fact and opinion. Common Core Standards Addressed: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.2.1 Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text. This is addressed in the different brochures and Tri-Folds. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.2.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases in a text relevant to a grade 2 topic or subject area. This is addressed in the Vacab Flip Flap. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.2.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. This is addressed in the suffix, high frequency, and spelling activities. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.2.1 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. This is addressed in the Verb Flip Flap.
