Spelling/ Words to Know Practice
Guess The Word- Students guess what spelling word fits in each set of word boxes.
Color Me By Words to Know/ Spelling- This is a coloring activity to practice the high frequency words and spelling words of the week.
Roll a Spelling Word- You will need a dice for this activity. Students will roll to find out what spelling word to write. They keep going until all squares are filled
Vocab Flash Cards- Student practice the vocab words of the week by drawing pictures of the different vocab words.
Word Team-Up- This is activity where students practice pairing up word chunks to make the week’s spelling words.
Classify and Categorize Number Words- Students practice recognizing and categorizing number words in a cut and paste activity sheet.
Lizard Predictions- Students practice making predictions through drawing pictures of their different predictions as they read.
Red Lizard Conclusions- This is an adorable craft that pairs nicely with the story and with the comprehension strategy.
The Big Race Tri-Fold- Print these sheets front to back. Students fold it like a brochure. Fill it out about the week’s selection
Spelling/ Words to Know Practice- Students will read, trace, write, and rainbow write the high frequency words and spelling words.
Use conventional spelling for words with common spelling patterns and for frequently occurring irregular words.
Spell untaught words phonetically, drawing on phonemic awareness and spelling conventions.
Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
These three standards are addressed in; Roll a Spelling Word, Spelling Practice, and Color Me By Words to Know.
Ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
Retell stories, including key details, and demonstrate understanding of their central message or lesson.
Use illustrations and details in a story to describe its characters, setting, or events.
