ABC Order Spelling-Students put the spelling words in alphabetical order. When they are done the pick 7 of the words, and put it in sentences on the back
Vocab Flip-Flap-Print these pages back to back. Students fold these pages βhot dogβ ways. They fill out the flip flap accordingly. If they are struggling with the definition portion, they can look it up in the glossary at the back of their book.
Cooking Up Predictions Page- Students practice writing predictions as they read on this page.
Verb Tenses Interactive Journal Page- You can have your students fill out flaps a couple different ways: 1. Have them list verbs in that tense. 2. Have them write sentences with the different verb tenses in the sentence. 3. Have students write out common trends in the different tenses.
Verb Tenses Interactive Pockets- Have students write down verbs in the different tenses. You can also have them write the word in a sentence if they need more of a challenge on the slip. They then insert it into the correct pocket.
Use a Thesaurus Booklet- Have students write down a word. I would suggest having them select words they use too frequently in their writing. Have them find synonyms for that word. They then write a sentence using that word they commonly use. The second sentence is the same sentence only they replace the word with a synonym.
Understanding The Characters Chef Craft-
Spelling Practice- You will need a dice for this activity. Students will roll to find out what spelling word to write. They keep going until all squares are filled. They also pick some of the words, and put them into sentences.
Comprehension Tri-Fold- Print front to back and fold like a brochure. Students fill this out about the story.
